Touring Base
The Touring Base is waiting for you in the natural snow skiing area Hochkeil.
The Hochkeil ski touring trail provides tips for beginners on the correct ascent technique and, of course, advice on how to behave in alpine terrain. On the well-marked path you do not run the risk of getting into an alpine emergency situation and do not need to fear oncoming traffic in the form of skiers or even piste equipment. The path will be rebuilt in the course of December.
Please pay Euro 5,- parking fee or use your valid ski ticket for a lift ride with us.
After a good hour of ascent, the beautiful panorama on the Hochkeil awaits. The 1743 m high summit offers a panoramic view from the Hochkönig massif over the Hohe Tauern to the Großvenediger group and at the top there is also a gondola cabin where a rest is possible.
The descent then goes either over the groomed natural snow slopes in the Hochkeil ski area or through the deep snow on one of the ski routes.
Once you have reached the bottom, you can practice using the buried search device at the avalanche transceiver search field, which is provided by the Bischofshofen, Mühlbach, St. Johann, Werfen and Dienten mountain rescue teams in cooperation. Thanks to Hannes Laner for threading!
If you like the Hochkeil ski touring trail, you can continue to practice along the slopes on the Hochkeil or book a mountain guide with the Hochkönig Guides to tackle one of the many great tours in the Hochkönig area.
Touring equipment rental is available upon reservation at the Arthurhaus, where regional delicacies await all tourers and anyone who wants to become one. A great experience for advanced is the tour also at night – a real night spectacle!
